what if get new motherboard

What if I get a new motherboard?

So far, I just love this Vista.
But, what if I want to put a new MB/CPU set in this system? Will Vista recover from the change upon the next bootup, do I have to start over, can I use the same disk, etc...?

Typically this type of upgrade requires at a minimum a repair install of the OS. I haven't yet tried this with Vista so don't know if it is more adept at handling this type of change, but I would assume not until proven otherwise. -- Tom Porterfield

if you change your MB, microsoft considers it a new computer. at the very least, it will require re-activation.

Well, if you pay carefull attention to getting the same chipset and CPU you may just stand a chance.
More than likely though, too many key components will be different and will cause Vista a great deal of grief.
